Full Moon Magic

full moon magic charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

As the Moon is fully illuminated on the Earth’s side, there are very potent powers to magic with. As the New Moon is used to set new intentions, the Full Moon has magic that is better used for release. The Universe has heard your voice of desire (so be careful of what you wish for), so have faith that your wishes will come true.

Before you begin, it is v important to use the magic of the moon with a grateful heart. Leading up to this powerful moment,  you may feel that your cup runneth over; you are full of life and love - breathe it in. You may also feel more energized and restless. Hopefully you have taken the time to meditate while absorbing this almost chaotic energy.

The best time to use Full Moon magic are the 24 hours before and after the Moon is 100% illuminated. (That’s why it’s important to note the time of a Full or New Moon.) You have a total of 48 hours for full moon magic and ritual. And this overwhelming surge in energy means it is time to take action.

However, to move forward you need to release anything and everything that no longer serves you. Whether it’s a bad habit or behavior, a friend or foe, a lover or relationship, even a thought or a situation, it’s time to let it go. The Full Moon is a lunar climax, so revel in the moment and release that explosive energy, then allow yourself to rest.

Below are  many different release rituals to use with the Full Moon. There is no right or wrong way to harness moonly powers. You should always do what is right for you, so what I am about to share is only a suggestion. Always go with what works for you and what you are comfortable with.

Before you begin any ritual, make sure you have all of the tools you will need. There’s nothing like getting ‘in the mood’ only to realize you forgot a valuable tool and it kills the vibe.

Suggested Full Moon Magic tools:
  • pen
  • paper
  • white candle/s
  • sage, incense, Palo Santo
  • salt
  • water

Find a quiet place where you will not be interrupted. Try to get outside if you can. Feel Mama Earth under you and the Goddess Moon above you. Otherwise, find a window that faces the Moon and let the powerful light surround you and your area.

To start, always cleanse your area - burn incense, sage, or Palo Santo. You never know what kind of bad juju or stagnant energy surrounds you. Light a white candle and protect your space.

Once you have found and cleansed your space, here are different ways to release what no longer serves you:
  • Write: let the words escape you in no coherent way. Start writing and see what you’ve been holding on to.
  • Cry: I tend to be very emotional during the Full Moon, and sometimes a good cry is what I need to empty myself.
  • Bathe/shower: Add some salt, flower petals, essential oils and wash it all away.
  • Sweat: Workout, have sex, sit in a sauna. Rid yourself from the inside out of what no longer serves you.
  • Burn: not yourself, but things and thoughts you don’t want/need to be the best version of you. Use the flame of your white candle and watch your negative energy burn away. *Always use caution while using fire. Be responsible and burn in a safe place (a bowl, fireplace, fire pit, etc.) and have something readily available to douse the flame if it becomes dangerous.
  • Combination of it all: write it out, have sex, then take a bath.

When you have completed your ritual, end in prayer or meditation. Then allow yourself the time to rest. You may only need a good night’s sleep or the time until the New Moon to refresh. Move forward at your own pace.

Always do what works for you. Intentions are invaluable, and if you have a quiet mind and a calm soul, the Universe’s answer will always be in accordance to yours.

Sun In Sagittarius Workout

sun sign workout sagittarius charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

Every month the Sun travels through a new zodiac sign illuminating its identity. It is our Sun sign that makes us unique. However, regardless of your Sun sign, you can feel the power of the Sun's current zodiac position. You will feel that sign's hidden energy.

The Sun entered Sagittarius Tuesday evening, emerging from the depths of hell that was Scorpio. We spent a lot of the past month looking within and now after all of the introspection and intensity, we can look at the bigger picture.

Sagittarius is a fire sign ruled by Jupiter, and fiery is one word to describe us. Some of the characteristics my fellow Sagittarians and I might display are honesty, optimism, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor. There's a part of us that always wants more and we are constantly looking for it, even if it's on the other side of the world. Adventure is always calling, so there's a definite need for independence and spontaneity. The word 'routine' even makes us stand on edge.

On the other side of that we can be tactless, over confident, flaky, and even reckless (but in a good way). We can be idealistic, but an irresistible optimism you just can't resist. We are here for the truth and nothing but the truth, so Sagittarius are direct and honest.

As the sign of travel and exploration, of course we rule the major muscle groups of locomotion: hips, thighs, and glutes. Being healthy and physically fit is of importance and you can always find us at the gym. Personally, leg day comes twice a week for me.

The following quad circuit can be done once or twice a week, at home or the gym. For the best results, repeat the circuit three times. As always, consult your M.D. before you begin a new fitness program. Address any of your concerns with a licensed professional, and if you have any injuries or limitations, discuss an alternative.

If you're interested in learning more about your own personalized cosmo inspired workout, please email me. Note that space is limited and it may take up to two weeks before your personalized program is made available. All payments are currently only processed through Venmo. Email for more information.

The New Moon in Sagittarius occurs on December 18. Check back how to use the Moon's energy to reflect, release, and renew.

New Moon Magic

new moon magic charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

Pinterest is a wonderful resource for a beginner like me learning to use the magic of the moon. I'm sharing with you a collection of spells or chants or rituals that I have adopted to harness the powerful energy of La Luna. You can also follow my Pinterest Board 'Big Magic' and put together a concoction of your own, and please, share it with me.

A New Moon is the perfect time to start fresh and set new intentions. During the lunar cycle, a New Moon is the time to revisit your goals and bring new action towards them. It's the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. The energy of the moon at this time will make you question old habits, behaviors, or beliefs, and give you the initiative to find a new and innovative way of resolution. The most powerful time of a New Moon is during it's waxing phase, or the first two weeks of the moon cycle.

There are a lot of different ways to acknowledge and celebrate the moon. Some will create an altar, chant, pray, meditate, do a tarot card reading...the list goes on. I believe there's no right or wrong way to create moon magic, as long as you work within the first three days of the New Moon when the energy is most potent. But you can work with the New Moon in the way that works best for you.

Each phase of the Moon has a better use of magic than the other. The New Moon is best used to set  new intentions, while the Full Moon gives you the energy to move forward with your intentions or move past them. The lunar cycle is approximately 28 days, with two weeks between the New and Full moons, but it may take up six months between the New and Full corresponding moons when manifestations become a reality.

During the waning phase of the moon I can only describe it as a static in my soul. I am hearing so many different voices and seeing different signs, that I am almost overwhelmed with what the Universe is trying to tell me. With a daily brain dump and meditation, I start to make sense of all the noise and can finally find clarity in the hum of all the energy. By the start of the New Moon, I have my intentions set and I'm ready to make some magic.

As I have become more in tune and knowledgeable in my practice, and with more guidance and intuitive cultivation, I have created a rather simple ritual for a New Moon, and it is what has worked best for me over the course of time. I'm excited to share it. Whether you're a newbie like me or if you are an experienced witch, I hope you find this helpful or just something new to try.

As a busy momma of two, most of my moon magic is done after the little ones are down for the night when I know I won't be disturbed. I am able to be fully aware and present in what I am sending out and am clear in the intentions that I am about to set. Sometimes I am skyclad or I am comfortably wrapped up in my fuzzy pink house coat.

Before I begin, I gather all of my supplies. And depending on the weather, I either sit outside or open the blinds to my bedroom window to let the night shine in. Here is what I use for my New Moon Magic:
  • white candle
  • notebook and pen
  • sage and/or incense
To begin, I sage the area banishing all negative energy and welcoming only love and light into my space. I then light a white candle and some incense (with Copal being my new favorite), and ask for protection and guidance from my spirit guides and guardian angels. I want to be sure that my space is cleansed and cleared before I begin, so this may take three minutes or more. Knowing that there is no time limit, I take all the time I need.

Once I feel that the vibe is right, I sit in a comfortable position with my notebook and pen and I begin to write. It usually begins with random thoughts and feelings, but there comes the moment when my words become more powerful and it's from there I get clear with what it is I want to do or who I want to be. It's the story of the new me. I allow myself to write until my soul has no words left and that my intentions are clear. Again, there is no limitation, so I allow myself to write for as long as it takes.

The next step in my New Moon ritual is to create a List of Intentions or sometimes a vision board with the things I want to do or accomplish; whether it's to finish a chapter in a book to buying myself a Range Rover. The Universe has no limits; if you do not ask, you cannot receive. I like to make the list on a piece of pretty stationary and I put it in a place I can see it often. If you have an altar, place your list or vision board on it and over the next two weeks, spend time meditating on it.

I end my ritual with prayer or meditation. I'll let the candle burn through the night and the next morning I'll snuff the flame. While the Moon is in her waxing phase, I remain confident that things will manifest, and I am more keenly aware to what is happening around me. The Universe is listening, but are you?

New Moon In Scorpio Workout

new moon workout scorpio charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

Since October 21, the Sun has been in Scorpio, and if we have learned anything from Scorpio season it is that our darkside has come to light, wounds have been reopened, and skeletons have come out from the closet. Some of our worst demons are back, and the only way we can get to our better selves is to confront them head on. Remain fearless and strong.

New Moons also mean new magic; it’s out with the old and in with the new. Don’t forget this Scorpio New Moon will strip you to the core and expose yourself for who you truly are. From a health perspective, this is a great time to get rid of harmful habits. What are you doing that is doing your body more harm than good? How’s your diet? Are you getting the most out of your current fitness program? Are you cheating yourself the opportunity to be your best self?

Other things that could be beneficial during this time is to try a cleanse, begin a new supplement program, or schedule an appointment with your dentist. Feeling frisky? It's in Scorpio's nature that sexual energy and creative energy are one. (Points if you're looking to get pregnant!) Scorpio rules the pelvic region of the body including the reproductive system, sexual organs, bowels and excretory system. And with the largest planet in Scorpio since November 7, Jupiter can intensify this area.

With Scorpio ruling the pelvic region, this New Moon workout has been created to focus on building a stronger pelvic floor and strengthening the lower abs. A strong pelvic floor is important for men and women, as it provides many benefits, including but not limited to (source):

  • improve bladder and bowel control
  • reduce the risk or prolapse
  • improve the recovery of either child birth, gynecological surgery, or prostate surgery
  • improve sexual sensation and orgasmic potential
  • improve social confidence and quality of life

The lower abs play an important role in core stability. They provide support for the whole body in everyday movements, reduce back pain, and improve posture.

The following exercises can be performed 3-5x per week. How you want to incorporate this into your current fitness program is at your own will. It is highly recommended you speak with your licensed physician before you begin any new workout plan. Address any of your concerns with a medically licensed professional, and if you have any injuries or limitations, discuss an alternative.

If you’re interested in learning more about your own personalized cosmo inspired workout, please email me. Note that space is limited, and it may take up to two weeks before your personalized program is available. All payments are currently processed through Venmo.

On November 21, the Sun enters Sagittarius. Check back on how the Sun entering this Fire sign will challenge you to push you beyond your limits.

Insert Catchy Name Here

insert catchy name here charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

Harnessing the power of the moon takes many forms for different people. Personally, I have started to fully integrate the cycles of the moon into my everyday life over the past few years. Being in tune with the cosmic cycles has taught me a lot about myself - physically, emotionally, spiritually - and opened me up to receive so much more than I thought worldy possible.

As my soul has ebbed and flowed with the planets, my body has too. The alchemic processes of the cosmos is felt in every cell of my body. There are times I can anticipate a migraine to come a few days before a Full Moon because all of that cosmic energy is on its way to being so intensified that I literally just can’t. Does that happen to anyone else?

Because health and wellness is a huge part of who I have become, and the balance of mind, body, and soul is critical to overall wellness, I have started a new approach towards my fitness goals and workouts. I haven’t been very consistent in that area and was lacking that extra oomph to take care of myself. I’m a certified fitness coach, so how can I motivate others if I’m not motivated myself?

This is why I am ready to introduce a fitness project combining my passion for astrology and fitness. These two things separately are what set my soul on fire, and together, it’s fucking magic. And for the first time, it just feels right. And if you’ve followed me long enough over the course of all my endeavors, you’re probably thinking, it’s about time. It’s cool, because I get it.

With every New and Full Moon, and the change in Sun Sign, I’ll share a free workout. How you want to incorporate it into your current workout program is at your own will. It is highly recommended you speak with your licensed physician before you begin any new workout plan. Address any of your concerns with a medically licensed professional, and if you have any injuries or limitations, discuss an alternative.

If you’re interested in learning more about your own personalized cosmo inspired workout, send me a quick email or reach out on Facebook or Instagram. New Moon in Scorpio

scorpio new moon 2017 charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

I mentioned in another blog post that I am just getting started in the study of astrology. So much of what I have to share is my interpretation of all this planetary action. Because it is a constant in my life, astrology and La Luna are two influencers of how I am shaping my present and my future, as well as how I am creating a personal brand. If you're looking for a new perspective on how to harness your own magic, a lot of my future posts will be inspired by what inspires me - the stars and the moon.

A New Moon is the perfect time to set create new visions and set new intentions and goals. A new cycle begins, and a new awareness and focus should be brought towards positivity and love. This is an opportune time to raise your frequency and create a life only you can imagine. Fresh starts are always good, even it's as simple as cleaning out your closet or your desk. The clarity of ridding yourself of 'stuff' is magical in its own sense.

Saturday, November 18 is a New Moon in Scorpio, and if you haven't been in touch with your dark side since the Sun entered Scorpio in October, there might be the chance you'll meet your shadow self in the days to come. In fact, this New Moon might be the perfect time to channel your dark side and create something new with that knowledge

The effects of a New Moon lasts up to four weeks, but the best time to make that fresh start is in the first two weeks. The energy of Scorpio inspires us to dig deeper no matter how messy things can get, but be able to use that mess to rise above. Allow yourself to feel something you haven't felt in awhile. Maybe some of your childhood wounds are reopened and exposed, but only to dry themselves out so that you can actually heal.

If you do find yourself starting something new, you'll reap the benefits from the corresponding Full Moon on April 29, 2018. The Universe will give you exactly what you ask for, if you make room for the magnitude of its gift.

I am looking at this new blog as a fresh start, and by reaching in and drawing out from the depths of my soul, I am exposing my wounds, and that just by writing, I am healing. The power of this Scorpio New Moon is getting me back in touch with my inner magic, and giving me the ability to transform whatever hurt, frustration, or other wordless emotions I harbor into a healing energy.

If you're still here for the journey, hang on, because you're in for one hell of a ride.

Venus-Jupiter Conjunction

venus jupiter conjunction charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

It's evident I have this thing for the moon and the stars, but now I'm finding myself getting more involved with how the planets play a part in the who, the what, and the how. Astrology is more than just reading your daily horoscope, it's a useful tool you can use to interpret your daily life. Also, I'm that friend that's going to ask you what your sign is and then try to figure out just who you are. Let that be your disclaimer.

Besides trying to figure you out, using astrology is really about trying to get to the core of my own existence. We're all stardust. If you're curious, here's a link to a great article about astrology. Read more if you're curious and learning something new won't hurt you.

Anyway, yesterday morning Venus and Jupiter could be seen together in the early morning hours. It was a rare and stunning sight if you were able to witness it yourself. (Note: I'll update this post with when the next time this happens so you can see it happen.) Other than this planetary amazement, what does it mean?

Good question. Again, astrology for me is more about self interpretation; it's not knowing exactly at the moment something is happening, but later figuring it out. It's letting the Universe do its thing without forcing it. I read through some notes about Jupiter entering Scorpio last month, and reflecting back on it and my trip to Tulum, it makes a lot more sense.

As I study this conjunction, I've learned that together, Venus and Jupiter will bring an incredible amount of abundance, but at a slow pace. Things you've hidden from yourself or others may be coming to light for you, as they are for me. And it's time to let go; you'll make room for so much more than you realize once you do. Something positive will happen and you will find healing.

I am in awe of what the Universe has to offer, and the fact that we can harness some of that power and energy is incredible in itself. There was void in my soul that I thought would instantly be filled after Tulum, but all I needed was time. I feel differently, my soul is lighter, and I'm elevating.

And I hope to see you at the top.

Make A Wish

11-11 charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

I've been making wishes on 11:11 for as long as I can remember, but I never really knew why until I started on my spiritual journey and broadened my knowledge of magick. As a firm believer in what you ask of the Universe is what you receive, 11:11 has major significance.

Today is November 11th, 11/11, and in addition to this combination of numbers, there's some planetary action that we will reap the benefits from if we use it wisely. Any goals you set during this Saturn and Uranus trine could take you to that next level. And any sort of master number sequence can lead to a spiritual breakthrough.

For me, I'm finding clarity after a six month fog, and since Tulum, a new flame has sparked. I'm reawakened on so many levels and high-vibin'. I'm sorting through my mental closet for what I should keep and for what I should throw out. I'm feeling good about myself and that what I have to offer is more than I gave myself credit for.

Let's see what happens because I can't wait until I can say I manifested that shit!

The New Old Me

the new old me charlene atkins @charleneeatkins

It's been almost a decade that I've been in and out of blogging. I've had a number of blogs, personal brands and entrepreneurial visions, and honestly, I've struggled every time with who or what it, or I, was. Everything felt fake so I would only pursue it for a short time.

But guess what, I have no more fucks to give about who likes me and who doesn't. I'm writing from the heart and going from there. From glitter to fitness to mommy, and to whoever I am now, this is my story.

I'm a jill of all trades, but being a mommy, coach, and a gypsy soul is what fits me best.

If you're here for long, you'll find out what that means.
